Located in the Northern Ghor District, northwest of Irbid, Tabaqat Fahl was historically known as Pella and was one of the cities of the Decapolis League.
The archaeological sites in Tabaqat Fahl date back to the Bronze, Byzantine, Roman, and Islamic periods. Some of the most important landmarks include the old city wall, a temple from the late Bronze Age, tombs, the remains of a massive fountain, the theater, the three Byzantine churches, and the remains of an Umayyad mosque.
